Due To Coronovirus
The club is completely closed to protect our members
It is with great sadness that the committee have decided to close the club and courts with immediate effect.
We have thought very hard about this, and although the government has not specifically named tennis or squash, stopping play may save people passing this virus around.
Initially for two weeks from today, but I would expect it to be much longer.
We value our members too much to put them at risk by sharing courts and balls. We have a large cohort in the vulnerable groups.
While the LTA has approved tennis as a suitable outdoor sport which can incorporate social distancing, with certain measures, we cannot provide all of those measures. Notleast hand washing facilities outside the clubhouse, and a guarantee that everyone will have their own pair of balls to keep to themselves. If this can be overcome, then we are planning a review of the closure on Monday 23rd after the government afternoon briefing.
Please do not pay any membership subs for now. We will be offering refunds on the ones already made, and we will work out a suitable joining arrangement when we have the all clear to open.
The AGM will be more of an online briefing with a full meeting in due course.
Please stay healthy, follow the public health and NHS advice. Go for a walk, tend the garden, paint the spare room! Try your best to keep fit for when we return.
