Banbury West End had 2 matches this week, a Floodlight and Mixed match in the Banbury league. The Floodlight B team match was against Hook Norton A team. The West End ladies Becky Shardlow & Jane King halved their match 6-4, 4-6 and the men, Paul Derbyshire and Rob Jones also halved a very tight match 6-7, 7-6. 1st mixed pair Becky Shardlow and Paul Derbyshire did well and won 6-3, 6-1, whilst the 2nd pair, Jane King and Rob Jones halved 6-0, 4-6 which gave BWE a 5-3 victory.
The mixed match, against windy Warwick A in division 1 resulted in a 3-5 defeat. Men Mike Robinson and Jeremy Turner did very well and won 6-3, 6-4 but the ladies Alison Goult and Karen Brooker struggled and lost 1-6, 4-6. 1st mixed pair Jeremy Turner and Alison Goult lost 1-6, 4-6 but the 2nd pair, Mike Robinson and Karen Brooker won the 1st set 6-4 and then had to concede the 2nd set losing 5-7, due to injury. This was disappointing as a win here would have resulted in an overall draw.
