Banbury West End had two matches this week, with contrasting results. The first was a mixed match in the Banbury division 1 league, played in strong winds, against Hook Norton which West End should have won and didn’t. The men, Mike Robinson and Ray Armstrong struggled in their mens and lost 3-6, 1-6. The ladies, Alison Goult and Andi Padbury had a slow start and lost the 1st set 4-6 but won the 2nd convincingly 6-1. First mixed Mike Robinson and Alison Goult played very well and won 6-3, 6-2 but Ray Armstrong and Andi Padbury lost 2-6, 6-7. A sad 3-5 loss for West End.

The second match was a mens B match in the Oxfordshire league against Goring B. First pair Paul Derbyshire and Dean Harris had a brilliant afternoon winning 6-2, 6-1 against the Goring 1st pair and 6-1, 6-0 against the 2nd pair. The BWE second pair, Robin Woodbridge and Paul Froggatt also had a good afternoon beating the Goring 1st pair 6-2, 6-2 and the 2nd pair 6-1, 6-0. This was a very convincing win for BWE mens B team.
