Banbury West End had 3 matches this week, 2 in the Oxfordshire league and 1 floodlight match in the Banbury League. Firstly the floodlight match which was BWE B team against Middleton Cheyney A team. Ladies Elaine Madle and Sarah Dawes did well and won 7-5, 6-4, whilst the men Paul Froggatt and Dean Harris struggled and lost 1-6, 1-6. First mixed pair Elaine Madle and Dean Harris lost 6-7, 2-6 but Sarah Dawes and Paul Froggatt halved 1-6, 6-3. This was a 3-5 loss for BWE.
The first of the Oxfordshire league matches was a ladies A team match against Kingston Bagpuize A team in division 2. First pair Denise Sexton and Andi Padbury beat the 1st pair 6-3, 6-3 which was a good result as they were 1-3 down in the 1st set. They comfortably beat the 2nd pair 6-0, 6-3. Second pair Elaine Madle and Claire Oldfield had an excellent draw against the 1st pair 5-7, 6-2 and beat the 2nd pair 6-2, 6-2. This gave BWE a comfortable 7-1 victory.
The last match was a mens B match against Mapledurham in division 6. First pair Paul Derbyshire and Dean Harris had an excellent afternoon winning 6-0, 6-2 against the 1st pair and 6-2, 6-2 against the 2nd pair. The West End 2nd pair, Paul Froggatt and Robin Woodbridge also did well beating the 1st pair 6-1, 6-1 and also the 2nd pair 6-4, 6-2. This was an excellent 8-0 win for BWE
